Primary Schools' Rugby Competition

Inter-schools tag rugby competiton 2010

The tournament, in conjunction with the south west suffolk school partnership, was the culmination of club's coaches giving rugby tuition to pupils from school years 1 and 2 in 12 local primary schools over a two -week period.

12 teams of year 2 pupils from ten schools entered the fiercely- contested event, which saw a good standard of tag rugby being played. After the group stages, teams from New Cangle, Westfield, Burton End and Steeple Bumpstead went through to the semi-finals. Both games were evenly matched and the crowd were treated to some entertaining and flowing rugby.

Steeple Bumpstead and Westfield made the final and, after an impressive contest, Steeple Bumpstead ran out the eventual winners, 1 - 0.

Both winners and runners-up were presented with trophies from the president of Rugby club, courtesy of Complete Property Ltd, and all of the 120 children who took part enjoyed the occasion and their introduction to tag rugby.
